Do you have the right people on the bus?

In this entertaining little post , the question is asked - "Do you have the right people on the bus?" In my case I think I employ the food service person that was spoken of.  I do happen to think that the idea is correct, however.

In my companies I have some very talented and smart people. They just don’t all seem to work well together. It is something akin to fingernails on the chalkboard, in that one person gets on the other’s nerves no matter what is said. I used to have a relationship like that - my mother would say to the woman I was dating "Hello, how are you?" and the woman would get upset…. very strange since both my mother and the woman got along with everyone else fine.

So how is your bus? Full of happy people that play well together, or does someone have to get off at the next stop?

mmmm, beer

The fantastic Wall Street Journal has an entry about bars, as in a favorite local pub . I like beer. Mmmmmmm.

As for the question posed in the blog - No, bars do not seem to value their regulars. At least not my favorite pub. Whenever there is a special event, I can’t get a reserved table. Annoying….

With new extra goodness!

Google update in 2 minutes !

I just wrote a test post about the new Worpress 2.5 that is coming out, because I wanted to test the reaction time of Google. According to this post it can be indexed in less than 5 minutes.

The verdict? 2 minutes! Well, maybe less. I posted the article, then my 4 year old son came in to show me his new ball and then I checked - so it was 2 minutes on my end, it may have been faster at Google’s end.

Wordpress comes out with a new version

Wordpress 2.5

Version 2.5 is out… should I try it? Or should I wait for the others to try it first, then jump in when the water is fine?

Get Ashley Alexandra Dupre for 98 cents

Unpopular music is free! If it is popular then you have to pay at Amie Street . This is a neat business model. I had a similar idea once (that I never did anything with), so of course I like the idea. From their site:

So go there. Get free stuff that no one else wants. Enjoy life! Enjoy her two singles for only 98 cents for each three minute song, which is like saying you could have her for only $19.60 per hour! What a savings!

Listen to a clip of her songs here and here .

You could meet Scarlett Johansson! Briefly!

Date Scarlett Johannson!
Here is your chance - I mean opportunity on Ebay to purchase - a dream date with Scarlett Johannson. By dream date I mean, to quote from the auction:

There is no set amount of time but it is estimated to be a brief visit due to Scarlett’s schedule that evening.

WoW! A BRIEFVISIT!!!! Yes! And bids on the auction were only up to $11,850 at the time of this writing. That’s right, only the price of a nice used car. For the amount of tuition at a decent university, you too could have a brief visit with a star. Its like stalking, but for charity. Expensive stalking. Something has to be wrong with a person to spend $12K on a “brief visit”. You can visit me for half price, only $6,000.

If you look like Scarlett, the visit won’t even have to be brief. Don’t tell my wife I said that.

UPDATE - The bidding is now up to $38,000. A fool and his money take a 7 day auction to be parted….

Boyd Coddington is dead

Boyd Coddington is dead
Boyd Coddington died of complications from surgery, on February 27, 2008.

He was a man that brought billet to the mainstream, taught people how to forge documents to register new cars as old (bypassing inspection and emissions regulations) and took credit for Chip Foose’s work. I don’t really like billet that much, and I found his reality TV show annoying.

The most fabulous bike in the world

In my not very humble opinion is the Britten. It was featured in the “Art of the Motorcycle” exhibit at the Guggenheim, and it represents a bunch of forward thinking ideas for motorcycles that STILL have not been put into wide scale production.

The bikes were recently on display in New Zealand - 6 of them, which is amazing when only a dozen or so were made. Link .
